do it yourselfers-egress windows

Looking to put 2 egress windows in my basement. Wondering if anyone has tackled thim themselves before. There are already 2 small windows there, but They need to be bigger. Any tips, tricks, ideas? Whats the cost of this? FYI...It is a poured concrete basement

Do all the digging and window wells your self but hire the cutting out, major pain with out the right equipment and to rent it would be expensive if you break the diamond blade. the rest is pretty straight forward and you can do yourself. you will need a hammer drill and anchors to secure the window wells to the foundation.

If the wells are deep enough you will also need a ladder in them!

Hire the cutting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a do-it-yourselfer to the bone and after I helped my brother in law put an egress in his house.......... don't think I would ever tackle that again. Extremely dusty, dirty and no fun.

Egress

I did my own last year. Like the others have said hire the cutting done and the rest is pretty straight forward. I know that the window has to be a certain size to make it legal and also a ladder as stated above. I think I paid $400 for the cutting and they hauled the old concrete out.

I did one 2 years ago and the bill for just the cutting was 400 dollars.plus rental of the excavator was 135 dollars. pretty easy overall
