Do I need to turn up the oil pump on a 2015 RMK 600?

In 2012 my son purchased an 800 Pro and we turned up the oil pump. I have not paid much attention to this issue since then. I am now going to buy a 600 and put a 660 kit in it. I will probably finish the rest of this year before having the kit installed. Should I turn up the oil pump on this new 600? Thanks.

That's entirely up to you, but before you do anything, check the pump arm alignment marks to ensure it's set right to begin with.

I turned up my 14 Pro before it even saw snow. Went 3 turns. When I had the engine out to fix a broken motor mount bolt, I installed the TBs to see where it was set at. With 3 added turns, it was on the factory setting. I turned it up so the pointer/V notch was slightly higher than the horizontal line.

I figure now I'm around 35:1.

My 600 pro was leaner on oil than both 800s. Notch and mark were aligned when delivered. Had to turned them all up to get to at least 40:1. FWIW.

Lever arm check is a good to start, but it doesn't replace calc'ing the ratio yourself once you start riding it.

Bingo^^^. You could add 1/2oz per gallon for the first couple of tanks to get an idea of what your current ratio is. The few 6's I've been around do seem to use a little less oil than comparable adjustments on the 8's.

I have a '13 Pro 600. When new it was around the 60/1 ratio. Don't know how many turns, but moved the notch slightly higher than horizontal, and always in the 40/1 range

I wrench almost 20 RMK 600s 2013-2014 that has 6000-9000 miles on them, and we havent had any oil related problems with them!
Only when they forget to fill them with oil....
Maybe you get more power out of it with more oil, but pistons and crank looks good on them with stock oil pump setting.
The VES and the holes in the cylinders get really messy so you have to clean them often if you turn it up.

On the 800s, I turn them all upp 2-3 turns.
