Do I need an AFR ?

First year on a turbo and wondering if I really need an AFR Gauge...2010 800Dragon running the BD kit with mini- intercooler. Have EGT gauges on the dash and the EBC on the bars. I burn straight 100LL with a little oil added and 8 # of boost. I keep a close eye on the EGT's so I'm wondering what the benefits of adding an AFR would be. Thanks.

Some run egt, some run afr, some run both. I prefer afr gauge. It all depends up to you really. If your comfortable with just an egt gauge then you dont need an afr.

Yes you do. Seen people melt down sleds with egt's. I think egt's isnt as fast enough to read and diagnose the temp, then the a/f sensor and gauge.

And ive heard of people say that a engine can go so lean that the temperature actully drops again, dont know if there is any facts in that statement, just wanted to mention it.

I like both. Use the af for wideopen, egt for cruising. Af wont show how hot u r when ur cruising.
