05 rmk 900...do i have to pull the tank to remove the engine? any tips on engine pulling would be great!!

yes you do you will need to get at the ECU to unplug the wires . Other than that its basic ,lable everything and take lots of pics there are lots of how to links on the harder parts ( t-body removal etc.) in the How To" links at he top or the 900 section .

i tried to get away with not pulling the tank..... its not worth it, its super easy to do, make sure you have that 5 dollar gas line disconnect tool!

Not having a proper parts store in my small town, I made the disconnect tools from some carefully trimmed and shaped pieces of gear hose clamps lol:face-icon-small-dis Works like a charm!

My advice for your first engine removal / installation:
-Label wiring
-Pay attention to hose and wire routing. You want NO chafing or pinching
-Replace all engine mounting hardware with grade8 goodies
-Check / replace motor mounts (or upgrade!)
-Either relocate the voltage regulator, or move fuel tank mounting bolts rearwards 1". (There is a clearance issue here between the tank and the VR wiring. I moved the tank, because it also gives more wiring clearance for the ECU harness's)
-look at which bolts on the recoil housing that cannot be removed with the engine in place.... leave them out before you install the engine. Also a good time to rewind with Armorcord.

This and the rest of the info you need is in the stickies. Ask away if anything else comes up. Whats the engine coming out for?

motor mounts on their way...tank is off as it was easy once you get the fuel line tools....crazy chit....now where to send my clutch to get balanced here in canada?? or close to Medicine Hat/?? anyone no?

I sent my clutch to a Canadian shop this fall and had a horrible experience.
Indy Specialty (Indydan here on Snowest) is the man to deal with, not in Canada, but the best.

for balancing, INDYDAN is the BEST
you may be able to get it done cheaper other places, but no one will do it better, you get what you pay for

as far as engine removal, label everything if your not sure
it really isnt that hard

the biggest pain imo is the coolant lines on the back of the motor

take your time and its pretty straight forward

pretty much gottr done just that nasty coolant line on the back as mentioned...as far as the electrics that is super straight forward from what i see. thanks for all the tips as everybody has been rite on so far!
