digitron problem on zx

I have a 2003 zx with a 2001 motor 830
The tach works up to 2100-2200 rpm after that the tach goes blank.

I have the orange wire hooked up to the yellow wire from stator before the regulator.

I have the black hooked to the frame

I have the red hooked to a positive from the wiring harness.

The ground may be your problem. These systems are a sort of "closed loop." Everything electrical on the sled has a feed line (usually yellow) and a return line (yellow/ blk). If you ground the system it can cause issues. I don't know off hand about the Digitron, but try hooking the ground to a yellow/black wire instead of the frame and see what happens?

I hooked my ground to the hand warmer ground, seems to work but I get irratic readings sometimes but I don't think it's from my ground.
I also tied both the orange and red wires to the yellow wire coming out of the VR.
