Different shocks on an Apex Mountain?

Has anyone tried installing longer shocks on their Apex Mountain? Correct me if I am wrong, but I think they are 16.5" long, and I was thinking about maybe putting on a shock that is maybe a half an inch longer to get the ride height of the front end higher.

How long are Nytro shocks? Has anyone swapped Nytro shocks onto their Apex?

Thanks
Corey

Yepp you're wrong :).
Apex MTX shocks are 15.5" long c/c.
Apex RTX / LTX are 16.5" long
Nytro MTX 09 and newer are 16.5" long.
Nytro MTX 08 are 17,5" long.
I haven't tried any longer shocks tho, i know if you put GYT-R from an Apex LTX (1" longer) you need to modify the steering rods, some reading here:

I have some new 09 Nytro MTX 16.5 shocks with stiffer springs that would probably work good on your Apex for raising the front end. They just need bushings for the eyelets. You can have them for shipping +20.00,...I would like to get them out of my garage, just taking up space. PM me if interested.

Thanks TBird for this info, this is exactly what I needed! Yeah, I had thought I had read somewhere about guys putting the 16.5" GYT-R clicker shocks on their mountain sleds, but am having difficulty getting it to pop up.

I just had the front end apart, I don't think longer shocks will fit, the arms bind only a little bit past the 15.5" mark.

I'm sure you could make them fit, but it won't get you any more travel, as the arms won't go further down due to binding, and even if they go further up you'd be hitting the skid plate on the ground.

I actually had 16.5" shocks installed, and in it's full lencth is have some more movement, i know this because to be able to install the bolt i had to lift the ski.
But to get rid of the binding in steering you need to put a longer bolt to the ball joint, if i find the description that guys driving with 16,5" shocks i will post it.

I've had the GYTR clickers on for a few years, they work great. You do need to raise the tie rod ends up 3/4" or so to eliminate the binding. The above thread on TY is what I read before doing it.
