My buddy is in the market for a new sled. He is a big guy 6'7 270lbs. We both thought a M1000 would be the best fit for him. His price range is between 5-6 k. I have found some good deals on some 07s but I do not know enough about them to give him the ok to buy one. Do they have any major issues?? I rode my other other buddies M1000 08 and it rips. Will an 07 M 1000 go as well as his 08. He has a tuner thing, pipe, can, venting, and a 174x3in track. Thanks for the help buddies.

Spindles have a couple degrees sharper turning radius, tunnel/ running board changes they added some larger snow eliminator holes, new mounting position for the rear arms, rails were lighter and I think the handle bars had a change as well, less rise in the handle bar with a longer steering column. Those were some of the chassis changes anyway. If your buddy is coming off of someting much older he wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference, go with the 07' add some snow eliminators to the running boards, save some money and go riding. Good Luck....

Didn't the 08 get the float skid? I would do some kind of rear bumper kit and snow eliminators. If he is worried about the spindle turning radius he could upgrade to a timbersled front end when the budget allows.

Yes the 08 got the float skid. The 07 is a tank, the 08 a little less tanky, and the 09 a little less tanky yet. I love my 08, rips, and was cheap.

For the minor price difference get the 08 for sure. I have seen new 08 hold over 153 SPs for $7K, so used you will easily be in your price range.

08 has better boards, float rear suspension, tighter turning radius, a few less lbs.

I had a 07 that beat many of the same setup 08's and I was the heaviest rider. The plus about the 08 is you can get the 09 programming and engine reverse and eliminate the heavy dd.
Get either one with low miles and looks well kept. then add a slp pipe and PC3 and a PowerClaw. the Powerclaw will be the best mod for him. a tunnel mod wouldn't be to bad either.
But the 09 is hands down one of the best cats ever put on the snow, worth thousands more than a 07-08.
