difference between 05 and 06 pistons

I swear I had read on here somewhere before that there was a way to tell if you had 05 or 06 pistons in the motor, but cannot seem to find it.. How can you tell the difference between the 2 years pistons just by looking at them?

I dont have the diagram, but the way you can tell is the rings on the 05 will be much closer to each other than an 06 piston, and the area where the piston pin goes in on the 06's are round, on the '05s, they are square... Hopefully someone can post the pic as I have never saved it.....

I thought the 06 pistons (where the wrist pin goes in) was just round and the 05's were kinda square cut out, but after looking at some 06's that Mountainhorse has for sale, they have the cut outs.. Here is a pic of my 06 pistons and 1 of what he has for sale..Mine is the single piston picture..

the cut out you are referring to is around the wristpin. the hole in the skirt on the second pic is on all the 900 pistons. it lines up with the transfer ports.

I am talking about the wristpin area on both pictures of the pistons.. Not the port.

i dunno what would be going on with that, but the second pic with the two pistons looks like 05 pistons, it is quare, the first pic is deffinetly the 06 piston. did he say if it was 06 or 05?

They are the pistons listed in his sig for sale.. He states they are 06.. I just thought I had read that the 06's had the round holes and the 05 had the cut outs so I wanted to be sure I wasnt missing something..

He has them listed for $150 so would it be a good price, but since they are 05's.................................

the 05 part# changes up to the 06# you cant get the 05 pistons anymore if you got 05 pistons in your engine you cant just change 1 you must buy a set this pic will show the diffrence

I figured there was something to it.. I just wanted to see if I was missing something.. Glad you cleared everything up and the diagram is good also!! A always, your help is much appreciated!!

On a side note, I take it you sold the pistons??
