Diesel with loaded sled deck MPG?

I'm looking at sled decks and wondering how much mileage is hit with two sleds in the wind. Anyone with a 7.3L and a deck care to share how many MPGs they are getting while loaded? Is it better than the numbers you see while towing a V nose two place?

I don't have the 7.3 and obviously there are several factors in MPG. But my '06 Duramax got about 17 with two sleds.

I don't have a 7.3L either I do have a 6.7 dodge and I get 17+ depending on how and where I am driving to

I have a 2000 f-250, 7.3. 2.5" lifted, 285/75/16 Toyo Open Country tires. With performance injectors, Edge CTS programmer, 4" exhaust and Airaid/K&N.

MANY VARIABLES INDEED!!! Don't know my mpg, but I think I get about 50 more miles per tank with the deck and two sleds than the 24' V-nose tandem axle.

OH YES!!!!!!

Last year we took my buddies '06 F-350 6.0L w/ 35s to Revy and back... about 1,000 miles total including driving to the various snow parks around the area... sled deck with 2 900s on it and all our gear/sled gas... Averaged 12.5 MPG hand calculated including all idle time and everything over the course of the trip.

That is better than when we hook up to the 3 place enclosed.

drive a '00 7.3 w/ a 6spd. honestly, my mpg with a loaded sleddeck vs emptry truck is almost identical, i bet its 1mpg less given the same driving but i also drive a little more cautiously with it as its a bit more to heavy, so so close i dont care much at all. with a loaded 3 place v nose i pull i drop 2-3mpg vs empty. i love the sled deck especially for around town.. just like driving the pickup normally. just a hair wider.

It's so hard to make an apples to apples comparison of MPG's. When I have two sleds on the back of my truck and it just snowed...I'm hauling @ss to the parking lot!

2001 F350 CC DRW saw 13 mpg chipped and unchipped. In fact, on flat ground the mileage difference between loaded and unloaded was noise. Magic 13

I averaged 15.5mpg to Island Park doing 72mph in my 06 Duramax with a single sled on the deck over ~2200 miles.

The best was 17.7, worst was 11.9 bucking a ridiculous head wind. No power issues though :)

It picked up 2-3mpg over towing a 2 place open trailer.

That's a pretty good summation. I lost about 2-3mpg when I went to my 18' steel enclosed.

05 5.9 with 8" lift and 37's with a few extra add ons and i get right around 19-21 depending on where we go and how many passes we have to pull. driving at 65-70mph
