Diesel "shortage" in Alberta?

Seems like this past week that more and more station's diesel supply is drying up and the local refineries are down for some sort of maintenance? I got off the phone with J-Roc and he said that his is area is quickly becoming right out of #2, not good for an area with a TON of oilfield activity and trucking. I filled up last night in town here but I dunno how long that station is going to have fuel. The trucker at work said he was hard pressed to find fuel and when he finally did he waited an hour in line to get it:eek:.

Anyone else experiencing this or have any info as to what the heck is going on and when supply is expected to flow again?

I've got a buddy who works in the Bakken play in Southeastern Saskatchewan and him his wife came home for the weekend to visit his mom. Rig is shut down because they're out of fuel. Crazy...

Doesnt help that osama is bombing the pipelines in the north

I know of a few rigs are shutdown b/c of this... not the triple im currently on in the foothills

Two of the main diesel fuel processing plants decided to have scheduled shutdowns for maintinence at the same time!!! Genius!!! One was a petro-can plant and i'm not sure about the second. There supposed to be down for a month. The fuel we have now is being shipped from the states or B.C.

And once these plants are on there feet again they will be hauling vast ammount of diesel to the mines up north on ice roads. Finding diesel will be spotty until spring, my prediction anyways.

Luke, I found fuel... I betcha by day's off, i'll be out, though... We're completely out of fuel at the Petro Can card lock where I buy all my fuel, but I managed to find some in town. Not sure how long this will last..... I guess i'll be driving the girlfriend's car waaay more than I have been.

Esso and Petro-Can are both doing scheduled maintenance on the diesel portion of their refineries in Edmonchuk. Brilliant....

We get all our diesel from the local Co-op cardlock and they claim there won't be an issue with supply. All that fuel comes from the Federated Co-op refinery in Regina and they guarantee supply to all their retailers.

We burn 70-100,000L per day in Ft. Mcmurray and right now we are getting it from Montana.

Lots of the big guys up there are buying Jet fuel and mixing with diesel to keep their iron rolling.

No worries, Suncor diesel plant is up and running after the August shutdown. Diesel will be on its way i'm sure.
