So I looked at another thread and it will let me view the first page (49 posts). I know it will let the cat out of the bag but, what is stopping us from posting until 49 posts and then starting a new thread to continue on?

Snow west is now for profit and it will effect things such as the forum ride as now Snow west is profiting from organizing snowmobile trips... I guess snow west likes gettin the money without playin by any of the rules of the rules that everyone else in in colorado or any other state have to follow..

Basically after this year and maybe this year snow west to get a permit with the USFS and pay fees for the riders that they are making $ on.. Then get insurance and the rest.. Good luck on that.

A can of worms that snow west did not plan on as they want to charge for the opertunity to even read about this ride...

Funny but I talked with a few folks and the powers that be are aware of this and going to be looking into to it..

I say if you are going to use this type of ride to make a profit snow west should have to get the proper permits and pay the fee's..

Before you hate on me too much I just felt I should let everyone know right or wrong what I have heard... Flat out I could care less but trust me there are some out there who do care and are looking into the free ride that snow west thinks it should get.....

This one will be fun to watch play out...

O.K. but as far as I know Snowest has nothing to do with the ride itself. It is just guys from the forum getting together to ride. Huh :face-icon-small-con

What are you talking about???????????

Organizing events on Federal Lands is what he is talking about. This one is not, but I bet the FS is going to be looking at it anyway. Especially the Enforcement that is in the Gunnison area. Not a nice guy at all. If SW does organize in the future, they will need permits etc to conduct business on FS land. Bet they are in the parking lot every morning. Have you card and stickers on your sled.

exactly. In order to conduct any type of organized event (I know, organized & sledders don't belong in the same sentence) you need a permit & insurance. Kayakers & bikers have run into this issue, and as soon as a for profit entity is involved, it gets much more complicated.

Well,

The 4M ride this weekend is not organized by or sanctioned by either SnoWest or Gunnison County SnoTrackers. That said...

On SW, I simply put up some dinner and lodging info for the public.
SnoTrackers was nice enough to provide some free food for ALL visitors to the area this weekend - SW4M members or not. We're not charging for food, but would encourage anyone who cares to to join our club (Help fight Hidden Gems!), or offer a donation as you can - but there is no expectations; come one come all!

We didn't want to deal with Yosemite Sam and his 2 year permitting deal, so that's why this weekend is a rather un-organized happening.

;-)
