Did anyone else ride Tamarack?

We had a great day on saturday riding the tamarack resort. It was cool to start at the bottom and blast straight to the top and fresh track through two feet of pow right beneath the ski lifts. I took two buddies who like to snowboard and hauled them to the top and let them ski down (they loved it). I must say it was kind of weird seeing a bunch of snowmobiliers and no skiers, it was like one of those movies when everyone dies beacuse of some virus and only a few survive and you can go and do whatever you want:) personally i would love it if the resort never opened again.

How were you accessing that? Where did you park and unload? Didn't think that was going to be possible?

Tell me more :)

You could ride right from Poison Creek Campground or just cross the lake and head up on the snowmobile trail to the lodges and on up you go... I'd stay off the golf course though, they still are going to try and maintain at least the course.
From my understanding on all that is going on with Tamarack is even though they are closing down, the state still maintains the land where the ski lifts are and it is going to stay private for the time being under a land management deal. I hope all the tracks on the resort doesn't cause some long term public relation issues in the future... we saw a lot of tracks up there...:face-icon-small-win
Buy then again... I'd like to see it open to sleds until the resort opens in the future. I bet all the people that have homes in there never thought they'd see sleds on the hill.

we just rode from our cabin which is a mile south of tamarack. we just took forest service road 436 (i think) which takes you near the bottom half of one of the runs then straight up the mountain. we did have a couple of skiers try and stop us but when we got to the base of the second lift we asked a tamarack ski patrol guy if we could snowmobile and he said technically no but as long as we stayed above the super pipe they werent going to do anything about it. I would recommend accessing it from the top, just ride the ride the ridge then drop down. That will cause less problems.

Rode it today, wow was that fun. There is some steep stuff, some looooooong pulls (from the bottom of the mountain to the top), some awsome jumps, and the groomer still runs to the top.

What a great place for a hill climb competition, cascade donnelly club should slap something together for the first of april. :)

Well, kinda funny to see and looks like it would be fun BUT I dont reccommend it - it just gives us a worse rap on top of many home owners are not happy about it. I dont rap my sled out in my neighborhood streets for that reason and those ski runs run right by many homes. And there are home owners up there either residing or vacationing even with the public sector shut down for now.

I look forward to it opening next season - wish they could have kept it open this season. Wonderful place! And there are a lot of wonderful people that have homes in there, some of which are great sledding buddies of ours.

Now, putting on a hillclimb at the resort would be pretty cool! They've held many concerts at the resort so maybe a hill climb would fly? (Thinking noise comparison here.)

Sarah,

We accessed it from the top and only went about 3/4 of the way down, not anywhere close to any cabins. Talked to workers up on top that were taking off the pads from the chair on the lifts and they said that it wasn't a problem with us riding as long as we didn't go down low by the half pipe. They said there were a ton of sledders last weekend and it was crazy up there. The groomer is still grooming the road up from the bottom as there are skiers sledding to the top and skiing down. Just be safe and watch out for them. I also have a cabin that has the ski run for my back yard but chose not to access that way.

Pretty damn cool but I suspect that Powder Girl is correct. This practice will lead to problems for the snowmobile community in the future. At the very least, I would recommend dropping in from the top and only using the top 2/3 of the hill. Still, a long blast in fresh powder from the bottom to the top would be way cool to do just once!

lmao, your all voltures circling the dead waiting for your bite. I'm like others coming in from the top would be ok but going up from the bottom not so much. Besides this might be a hornets nest we don't want to stir. Plenty of places to ride up there without acutally gettting on the ski runs.

I live about four miles from Tamarack and went up the day after they closed and it was DUMPING. We got their and their was about two feet of fresh rod Wildwood allday and by the end of the day out tracks were completly coverd. Epic day.

The next day woke up to about two and a half feet on my porch, it was my day off and went to the hill. I tryed to make it to wildwood but I quid not make it. Their was probably four feet of the lightest snow you quid ever imagine. My sled was like a topedo through the snow. I was gaging on the fluffy powder. We hit up all the tabletops and made it to the big 65ft jump and hit it once to clean off the face, and noticed a snowcat hauling *** straight at me. He stoped next to the jump and was yelling at these guys that were tearing up the halfpipe. So I went to the drop inn and sent it right in front of the cat. The cat driver went up the landing and boooom took the jump out. Bummer, at least I got one good jump out of it. That was one of the most amazing days on my sled I have ever had.
