Was up riding this past weekend and as I was slowing to make a corner I heard some noise from the sled like something was grinding. Well because the snow was soft as sow melt was occurring, I thought it was just snow dropping from the tunnel onto the track, so I kept going. However, as I continued to ride I had come to another corner (roughly a mile further) where a louder grinding noise came from the sled, maybe the front end. I stopped, checked out the engine and belt, and found nothing visually wrong. As the gas station was only a mile away, I took it easy to get there. As soon as we got there, I checked the DD oil and it was very milky colored. I didn't continue to ride as I didn't want further damage to the drive system, if that was what was wrong.
Well tonight, I took the planetary drive system out of the sled, drained the oil, and found nothing visually wrong with the inside. Other than the oil was very milky color, I did not find any type of metal shavings to show signs of a bearing or gears going bad. I did some research on here and found nothing, my dealer has only experienced two DD's ever going bad, so I would appreciate if any one can chime in on what could have been occurring.
