Is this normal? What could be wrong in these pictures?

Looks like you got the tow rope out pretty quick after finding that. Hopefully you guys got out without too much darkness looking at the amount of light you had in the pic!

That must be a reverse Diamond drive hey? They really are very finicky, mine in my '07 M1000 lasted till 2000miles but never blew up that bad, still got me back to the truck :face-icon-small-hap Was popping in & out of gear and grinding like a mofo when going in & out of reverse.

I bet that was even tough to tow without a bearing supporting the PTO side of the track shaft.

That is nasty. To be honest with you I have those kind of thoughts at night when dreaming of pulling a nice long hill. WAMO!!! blow the DD to crap.

Diamond drive

You might want to check your heifer shaft, cause it looks like it might have have jumped the bull gear..

That was the second blown up drive in the last month....how am I doing? :face-icon-small-dis

Is the BDX lite drive worth it? Or should I keep buying these and crossing my fingers?

I was lucky on this one. I had been climbing much of the day and was on a fairly easy slope when this let go. But of course I was just coming up on full boost when she decided to give up. Imagine seeing my feet straight up in the air and me trying to hang on for dear life.....um, glad no one caught that on video now I come to think of it, lol!:face-icon-small-hap

I had just replaced my original reverse drive with this drive from a 09'. Not sure it is any better really.
I had to get the parts out so the track would turn before we could tow it out. But yep, she come off the mountain behind a stock Skidoo......hang's his head in shame...

Hmmmm, guess a bad bearing is a bad bearing no matter what unit you got? Wonder if your bearing seized up to blow the gear like that? My unit got damaged I believe from downhill reversing with a couple unsuccessful gear switches in the case grinding away like crazy. Got the engine reverse to help with that only to have a secondary helix in my OVS setup that don't allow for that anyways. Man sometimes you can just never win!

I hear ya. The first one was defenitly the bearing, or the planetary, or...? Either way it was wore out!
This one was not a wear issue. All parts looked in good shape.....even after the explosion, minus where the bits and pieces when through.:face-icon-small-sho

Got another one coming this way. Hopefully it will last a little longer.....:pray2:

I've run DD lite's in a couple sleds without a single issue yet, (fingers crossed!) whereas the stock DD's have been way less than reliable for us int he same sleds. The stock rebuild with about 400 miles on it in the hcr feels like it's about ready to go again...

So, what's it feel like?:spider:

My stock drive with reverse had 2500 miles on it. Now I have not owned the sled since new so I dont know what the previous owner had done to it but, it was a 1200 when he had it and then I turned it into a 1000 turbo. I have ran up to and including 18lbs of boost through it. It didnt fail from broken parts, just worn out and I should have taken better care of it. To me that is pretty good success. So I am curious as to what causes some the fail early and some to last?
