Diamond Drive Blown? How hard is install??

So toward the end of the day riding my sled (2008 M8 Boondockers Race Gas Turbo) didn't want to move. I stopped to check out a cornice I was going to hit, let the sled idle while I checked out the cornice for maybe 20 seconds, gave it some throttle and the sled acted like it was under a lot of load, like there were some gears melted together or something. It would idle fine, but when clutch engaged and I gave it more throttle it didn't want to move. I put it in reverse and it backed up just fine. I put it back in drive and it took off but sounded like a rock tumbler was running under the hood. Opened up the hood and the belt and clutch look good. So, my guess is the gears in the DD are stripped out right? And if that's what it is I would like to know
A) Where is the cheapest place to get a DD? and
B) How hard are these to replace?
C) Will I necessarily need a new DD or can I just buy some new gears?

Thanks guys

You have a few options starting from best too worst
1) get a diamond lite drive from bdx will not have reverse
2) find a 09-11 diamomd drive and install will also not have reverse
3) fix yours or find a replacement the same as yours and keep reverse.
as for install take out the bolt way inside the centre of your brake rotor(trackshaft bolt) and remove all the nuts holdimg the diamomd drive in. Also take off reverse motor on side of drive then pry out. And for install same thing in reverse steps. Takes about an hour too get out your first time.

If you trust your local dealer go to them and ask them about special services from arctic cat? If you don't trust them find a dealer you trust and they can get you some great deals on some factory parts and still keep reverse.

you can service the diamond drive and replace the broken parts. Diamond drive with reverse inside the gearcase and big horsepower is not the most reliable combination though.

So does that "Special Service" come with Vaseline?

:)

What are you talking about. Is there something here?

price

so bdx lite drive is $699... What am I looking at price wise if I
A) Take it to a local shop
B) Fix it myself
C) Buy OEM parts and replace myself??

For the bdx drive too work you need to buy their lightweight trackshaft as well. Look on here i swapmeet i picked up a 0 miles 2010 diamond drive on here for $400

DD

anyone have one for sale?? I need one, cheapest I can find is about $400.... Anything lower out there?

i just bought a 2011 m8.buddys girl friend jumped on it and and the brake was set and smoked the **** out of the belt. could this have done anything to the primary clutch.

Ummm, tell him to dump her...She can no longer be in the circle of trust. :lol:It will be fine. Just make sure to clean off any belt that is stuck to the faces. And If it was bad enough get a new belt.
