Detriot help. Worth 50 bucks

Have a 03 series 60 DDEC 4 in the shop, and I figure 50 bucks towards a solution is cheaper than whats stuck in it with no solution yet. The truck was on the road when it "laid down". Was towed into a shop and found that the hose from the rayco filter base to the fuel pump collapsed, line was replaced and the motor ran good till a few days ago. A properly tuned Detroit doesn't smoke , however this leaves a constant haze. Injector tests have been done and a six pack of injectors were installed, rack run, jakes reset, new fuel pump, cam and timing sensors replaced. Upon start up the motor will slowly build RPM's till it reaches 625 and at idle misses like a ***** and overfuels, Sometimes it will idle normal after it has been run between 1000-1500 RPM's for 5 minutes or longer then will slowly drop back into an engine miss. I have ran the motor out of a pail of fuel to eliminate the possibilty of a cracked line or standpipe, and ran the fuel return into a pail to check for air in the system, but I have nothing. Over 1000 RPM's the motor runs fine, under that it misses and smokes. Any help would be appreciated. 50 bones to the first right answer.

It sure sounds like mine last spring and it ended up being a crack or hole in a hard plastic fuel line at the right rear of the motor. We started replacing fuel lines and eventully found it. It was not very obious as there was no leaking fuel from the split, but it would suck air. I know you have eliminated the possibility of this but this was my experience.

Thats exatcly what it acts like but no air in the system. I'm going to check the ECM today for any voltage loss or corrodded pins.

have you had it dynoed. You never said if the power is ok. Do you have any codes and where are you installing the bucket of fuel. Try doing it right from the fuel pump to make sure. Also bull gears are a problem which drives the cam. Check the back lash through the air compressor hole.
