Det sensors

Love my xp and had it dialed in with team secondary and a thing. 1500kms no problems. Decided to step it up a bit and could not find a solid BB with consistant customer satisfaction. Ended up shaving valves, a bit of head work, added dyno port y-pipe, pipe and thing. Ran just ok during an trip to Revy. Low r's and power loss. Most noticable improvement was low and mid range power from valve shave. Was chasing the problems, thinking clutching. had intermittant det sensor issues.

Heade back up the highway and chased the problem again, thought shorts or grounding issues. Tried raising and lowerning needle, tried jetting as it was showing rich. Non stop det sensor, tired dealer and they said 3 weeks before they coudl look at is as so many were down!!!!! Ended up jetting up to 500 main and the thing out right rocks. Seems Det sensor was knocking due to lean condition. Other note was in Revy able to use 94 octane fuel and up here 91 is best.

Thought this post may help others with simialr problem.

Did you ever notice anything indicating deto sensor on the gauge?? How much RPM was it dropping? Thanks for the info-

not sure the difference between everest and x guage. I have the everest and it did not indicate anything. My r's would not go above 7900, even by taking out sick amounts of pin wieight, spring changes etc. It is my understanding gauge will not indicate unless in det mode for long pulls, it will just retard timing.
