Det Sensor

Is it possible to have an extremely sensitive det sensor? I have PA Head slp pipe can and pcv. slp blue spring 66.5 gram polaris weights, Cant remember what helix right now. RPM on long pull 7950 -8100. seems like every other pull i hit the det and go into limp mode? Is it possible to have an extremely sensitive sensor?

Some of the different ecm flashes on the dragons seemed more sensitive than others. What compression ratio head do you have and what elevation are you at? Are you using any race fuel and does it contain ethonal? You may be getting some detionation. Are your spark plugs loosening?

I think what you're seeing is quite common in mildly modded Pro's. I've been talking to a very performance oriented tuner/dealer who performs many hours or R&D prior to doing performance mods and sending them out the door. He has mentioned that some perform flawlessly and some show det and go into limp mode. I've decided I'll leave mine alone until someone can figure out how to keep the limp from sneaking up on me and causing me to crash my $12,000 sled off the mountain.

the head is 13.5:1 riding 5-8000 ft. I dont think this is a det issue, I think it is an over rev type issue, that is why i am miffed. I am running 91 non eth fuel. I am going to try different fuel next ride to confirm. plugs not loose and nice choco brown.

If you think it's over revving use the record mode to check, or add heavier weights. You could also check the torque spec on the det sensor, it's possible you over tightened it when installing the new head.

Watch your temp guage...if any air is in the system it will spike the temp on a long pull, then read normal by the time you get back down the hill.

If you are running the PA head with the slp set up, did you get different programming on your box? I know slp didn't release a head with their pipe right away last year because they were having det issues. Also with the PA 13.6 head it is designed for elevation over 6-7000 ft so it is very likely you are having det issues. Try some av gas for one tank and you will know for sure.
