DET Sensor Install

I am installing PERC on my 700 Non-VES engine and need some assistance in options to install the DET sensor. The PERC set-up is off a 2004 RMK so the head on the older 700 Non-VES engine does not have the boss to mount the DET sensor. Does anyone have experience in installing a PERC set-up on an older Big Block that they would like to share? Some individuals have suggested instead of tapping the head to just zip tie the sensor to a coolant hose. However, I would like to try and use the DET sensor if possible. Any input would be appreciated and thanks in advance your help!

I'm undertaking the same project currently - though, my 04 PERC kit is going on my 02 RMK. From what I have been told and researched I can do one of two things: detach the DET wire and fasten it to a nearby hose (as you mention in your post) or, I can install a cylinder head plate from an 04 RMK that has the boss. It's not much info, but It's what I've uncovered thus far.
Good luck and keep me informed if you discover anything further.

Thanks for sharing the info you have dug up on the DET install. Some individuals have mentioned to just use the old head and tap it for the sensor to mount to. I have heard that there is enough material on the head to tap it and I have heard there is to enough material. That is why I wanted to hear from someone that has done the install so I can verify it will work before I start drilling. I will gladly share whatever I find out and please do the same. Thanks!

I ran an older SLP head from a non-DET motor, but I was able to drill the head and tap it for the sensor. I don't have the stock 04' cylinder head laying around anymore or I'd send it to you. If you're concerned with there not being enough material for a 5/16" bolt or whatever it takes, you can probably get away with using a little smaller diameter bolt than will actually fit through the sensor. With the SLP head there was plenty of material if you were careful.
