DET Problems

Is anyone having having the Detenation problems I've tried all sorts of things outside of pulling the DET sensor off the engine.(diff gas, octane booster, changing resistors.) sled runs great till you hammer thottle then eng.lite flashes, det on dash, and then goes into limp mode. I need a little help here guy'!! Thanks

Nope, I have not even seen the detonation light. Provide some more details. What plug do you have in? What evelevation are you at?

If you can't kill it, you might mix in a couple gallons of av fuel.

Some have had det problems, but its not really det issue, its more of a clutching issue. Over-revving the sled causes it to hit the rev limiter, and then sense det. I think they just went with heaver weights in the primary and it took care of the problems. This is second hand knowledge and just what I have read, but maybe something to think about or check.

Haven't did that yet, sleds only got 400mi on it, well i'll pull them and see thanks. Shadowrider might be spot on though, its been doing this alot more when i'm riding it at low Elevations(0-2000ft) and as far as what plug i have in doesn't seem to make much of a diff.

Had it and trying to cure it now.

Do you have most det issues between 0-1000ft?
Is it when you cruising around 6000-6800 rpm and pinning the flipper?
Do you have more det issue when you riding in conditions with heavier load on the engine, denser snow and/or up hill an pinning it?
Witch color are you injectors?

I have been having det issues to. Cleaning the ves and removed excessive rubber from inside the plug caps cured most of my det issues. Dealer is going to replace my yellow injectors and throttle switch this week and hopefully that will cure the rest of my det issues.

Non of my det and in to limp mode was a result of over rev it always happened before I was hitting 8000rpm and always below 1000ft in heavy load conditions @ 6000-6800rpm and pinning it.

Hopefully you will find a solution to it asap.

I live in MN and it only does it when I leave it out in the cold overnight. 0-1000ft. It did it one time in west yellowstone at 7000ft. It started doing it at 200 miles and I switched to the high oct plug right away and never changed it out. I do agree it happens when I'm mid throttel and pin it.
I have found these two things out.
1.When it happens and I just let off the flipper and let it idle down and lay back into the flipper it will over-rev again.
2. If I shut the sled off and restart it, it goes away and doesnt happen for the rest of the day.

on my assault 2011 i had bogging , it was the wire of the injector who was ground to the engine , get your hood off and look for the wire that connect the 2 blues injector , they change the injector and never did it again

This is exaclty what happens when clutched too light. Go from part throttle to enough of a squeeze to open the valves but not go WOT and it'll go into det and the dash will tell you you can't go any faster. Turn off sled and restart, good to go until you jump the next crossing and accelerate as you land. Two workarounds: one, leave light weights in and tape the flipper to the bar - lots of rpms and no det. Or, weight up the clutch and have fun without det. Of course, all this relies on good fuel.

I don't think it's clutch related on mine

I don't think it's clutch related on mine. I will let you all know next week after I have been riding with the new injectors and old 68g clutch weights.

Ok guy's this is my fix for my detenation problems, i've been having. 7043681 primary spring, 1321584 10-66wts., 7043152 secondary clutch spring, 91 or better fuel and the 10% ethanol plug installed. Just got back from Grand Marais Mi. (alt.0-2000ft.) sled ran well all week with no problems, max.rpm's 8230. I know most, on this site are running in higher alt. but I thought I just pass this info on for future ref.
