Rabbit Ears in Steamboat is great-just stay on the south side of the road, Buena Vista is good too, just don't waste your time in Grand Lake - the area is nice, but the service/food/business owners and people in general are not good.

was to buena vist last year. had a good time but looking for something not as gfar wes and south as we will be heading home to minnesta

Hold on there Cowboy! I know alot of really nice folks in Grand Lake. Personally the only thing wrong with GL is the fact that the trees are all red. Ugly scenery!

It is a bit out of the way for a Denver guy wanting a quick trip!

Rabbit Ears and Buff Pass are great but you can get messed up pretty bad in a storm and we have a biggun coming!

Apparently you haven't met the right people, I have been going to GL for years, there is awesome accomodations, the food is pretty good. the riding has the best of both worlds, not the huge climbing like other places, but there is some to be had. POW meadows are there, I have ridden there after some major dumpings and had a blast. Don't be afraid to give it a try!

Are you bringing sleds or do you have to rent? If you are renting, GL should be at the top of the list - if not - you have more choices.

I agree with PJ - only problem with GL is the dead trees and all the rental sleds being ridden, well, like rentals :) Folks there know where their income is derrived from.

Not sure why the Grand Lake bash. Nice place, lots of friendly people, a couple of decent places to eat and some nice accomodations. WAY cheaper than Steamboat and closer to Denver. Better trails and some reasonable pow if you catch it right.

MORE THAN LIKELY WILL BRING MY OWN SLEDS

I still say Grand Lake - it is about a 2 hour drive from Denver - perhaps less - excellent trail system, you can ride in to town for some eats / accommodations - some decent climbs and as said before - if you hit it right, some great powder (but that is pretty much anywhere...).

GL has gotten some good snow of late! The snow at RE is really thin and almost non-existent. Spread the word that RE/Buff Pass isn't a good place to be right now!;)
