Deleting the DPM

Ok here's the deal. I have a 02 summit 700 and bought a wireing harness off of a 02 mxz 700 that had reverse, and looking to install it in my summit. My sled has DPM so it has 6 plug ins on the mpem and the computer off the mxz only has 4 plugs. The 2 that are missing are the dpm and the air sensor in the air box. So I'm wondering can I delete the dpm by just pluging it off and rejetting or is there more to the story. I would really like to have reverse on this sled but if not then I will just sell the harness.

dont plug off the lines at the carb. those are the float bowl vent lines, just run a hose from them down below the float bowls and rejet. if you plug off the fittings at the carbs it will not drawn any fuel into the carbs. remove the dpm and leave the air box sensor in the air box.

perfect thanks for the info. Any idea where to start the jetting? I guess let me check and see what's in there for sure first. I'm betting 500 mains is what's in there but I will look. I will be riding around 2000 to 4000 at home and then up around 7000-9000 range, but the old lady will be riding up at the high elevation I will be riding down low. I understand that the adjustable needles make it easier to fine tune also? Thanks for thehelp I thought this forum had lost all it's helpful people LOL.

the way the dpm works, the jets are what would be in the machine if it has a dpm would be if the temps are -20 and sea level. So if you left the stock jets in it it will be fat. I would find a MXZ-no dpm jetting chart and use that for a start. most dealers have a book that give you specs, I have found copys on the net, i am at work right now, i might have on at home i will look tonight.

main jet effects full throttle, needle effects mid-range 1/4 to 3/4 throttle, pilot jet idle
