Just got back home stayed at Deerhaven last night the room was really nice snow was good as far as I was concerned. I still found enough to get stuck and fall off all in all a fun time. They told us that fuel was available all you had to do is walk inside and ask at Deerhaven.

So what is up with the fuel--the lodge posted on Dec 8th they would have fuel within the week. Then they just posted in would be another week or so- because they wanted to do it right?? now the fuel is available you have to go in and ask- I'm confused-- Maybe they have fuel in cans or something??

I was at Bear Lodge last weekend and they posted the signs all over the place saying Deerhaven and Meadowlark are closed and no gas available there so need to be careful with gas when riding into south Bighorn from North Bighorn. We do not know if it is temporary until gas is available or closed for winter. Nobody has said yet... Maybe some snowest members can come up with answers soon....

I am sorry that everyone is so confused about the gas..They are at Meadowlark Lake Lodge today trying to tie it all together and get it up and running . Though Meadowlark Lake Lodge will be closed we will be selling gas at the pumps..Credit Cards only 24/7 pay at the pumps.
I am also sorry that people have said we are closed. Deerhaven is OPEN! We are NOT closed we have been open everyday since June 25th 8am -8pm . We have 6 newly renovated Motel rooms with 2 queen beds and bathroom. We also have 11 Rustic Cabins that use the central bath and shower house. Deer Haven also serves Breakfast , Lunch , and Dinner everyday.
So please feel free to call us with any questions or email us.

Spent the entirety of last weekend at Deerhaven.
The food is EXCELLENT! Thanks Josh! (and Ty for serving)
The newly remodeled motel is simply beautiful, and is about 1000% warmer than it used to be in the "oldern days" The most impressive part to me about the motel is the Peet boot dryers installed in EVERY ROOM! What a forward thinking concept!
Plenty of beverages... (even AFTER we left
) I'm sure Bud lost count somewhere along the way... I know we did!
Sleds for rent... the good 4-strokers OFT Racing likes! (We even helped them with a few OFT suspension set-ups on the rentals to make you renters more comfy while riding!)
Great folks running the lodge (thank you Michele) and some great visiting "flatlanders" to BS and tell stories with. Thanks for the beers Cattle Haulers!
I assure you the lodge is open, the accommodations are top notch, and that Deerhaven is quickly rising to the top of "places to go" in the Bighorn Mountains!

PS: the snow is phenomenal for this early in the season on the Horns!
*EDIT* I understand the fueling equipment was successfully installed today, and the fuel is on order. Barring any unforseen circumstances, the pumps should be available next weekend.

Anyone planning an early season trip take a look.
Ignore the snotel, and look at the pics... over a foot of fresh since yesterday, and still coming down!

Gotta love the owner of the lodges on north side.
Not very professional. Deer Haven is open, they had great burgers, and I did see sleds using the pump at Meadowlark last weekend. I guess the owners of beer lodge getting all our money on the north side for the last 3 years while everything on the south end was closed wasn't good enough. Now they have to bad mouth and lie about the other lodges on the mtn. Guess I'll ride, stay and give all my money to Deer Haven this year!

We were glad to see you at our snowmobile meeting tonight, Holli and Wayne. Like you told us tonight that, as of 2 days ago you have gas at Meadowlark. Cant believe the amount of new snow on the Southern Big Horns.

Wow.... Im glad to see this location open. I used to work at Deer Haven when I was younger. I think it was owned by the Pucketts back then. We will be visiting very soon.
