Deck

Definitely purchasing a deck, will be my first one. Do I want an 8' deck or a 7' deck? Ride the longer track sleds, but from my understanding both decks will work. Just don't want to buy the 7'er and wish I would of bought the 8 after the fact. Any opinions would be appreciated!

8' without a doubt. 7 is too short for long tracks

I agree. Generally, 7' will put a lot of weight on the front swing arm of the skid, which will compress and give the appearance of the sleds falling off the deck. If tied down well it's not a serious issue but I don't like it. 7.5' gets the deck edge out past the front swing arm pivot enough for that to not happen. 8' is better yet. I built my flatbed 7.5' long on a shortbox truck specifically to avoid that swing arm compression yet not having the truck be any longer overall than stock.

It depends which deck you are looking at. I talked to a guy from TruckBoss at the Denver show and he had a good point when it came to deck length. TruckBoss keeps the deck at the edge of the rear bumper. That way you can get into the bed easier and don't have that over hang. Their solution is a flip deck that extends the deck when needed. He also claimed that a 155" sled can over hang on a 7' deck with no issues. But, the TruckBoss decks are pricey.
