Dec 2012-Avy at Gravel, Grand Lake

Gravel Mtn--major slide on the far (south) left side looking up. I don't know when it happened but it scoured down to the rocks/gravel most of the way to the run-out. This is a common avy location so beware.

Also, a sledder set off a small slide under the cornice north of the big slide--must have happened Sat AM as riding buddy was up Fri and no tracks up Gravel.

The hill was all in tact Thursday afternoon, even with about a half-dozen riders stuck in the sugar towards the bottom. By Saturday afternoon the first third had been pulled down. Everyone was staying away from it until later Saturday afternoon when a single rider pushed his luck and brought the second third down. He managed to out-run it and was pretty proud of doing it.

If you look real close upper right, was someone who thought they could make it up that tight chute. Didn't happen, had to roll her down, wish I had the zoom on!
