Deals gone bad

Hey guys lets start a thread on some of your bad experiences with A>M> vendors. Tell your story so others dont get burned and hopefully they dry up and move out of the sled bizz. Ill start with a reminder of the Jannetty guranteed turbo manifold, what a joke 1200 dollar ornament with no help from Jannetty . If I kept quiete he would work with me on it over the summer and until they could come up with a fix buy a Powder Lites header to get you going he replied. Guys stay clear of this one unless you have money to burn. Lets hear more from others should make for a good read.

Deals gone bad ?

I will have to throw in my two cents and add not only venders but customers are not always too straight and I have worked on both sides as a mechanic for most of my life.
Guys who get a bad model of sled and take belt off and hold the throttle wide open until there 600 Arctic cat blows up and take it back to dealer and say my wife's sled just quit!
Dealer can only do as good as the support from there Yamaha, Arctic cat or who ever product there are selling.
When it came to motorcycles I had worked on all including a few old BSA's, Norton, Can Am etc.
I might be dating myself when i started working in a dealership with Scropion, Skiroule, Snowjet, etc,
One thing I have notice this year was the big difference between Yamaha Canada and Yamaha USA??
When I ask about a problem I am very straight up about it and get two different asnwers.
If you get the ( well your the first we heard of this problem ) and makes me think how there is no ownership to it so there's no problem!!
That in my books is where most companies make there biggest mistake.

It doesn't matter what you build from headers to sleds it's man made and always needs to be improved to keep on top in this market.
Lets face it our toys better be working or it's not much fun cause most of us work hard so we can play hard.
I was very impressed with Yamaha USA when I went to West Yellow Stone MT and there rep's attitude toward's customer service.

I have two...

1) Troy at TJ Sports: Couldn't deliver on a MPI apex I ordered. Agreed to refund my $500 deposit and then went into hiding. Several years no refunded cake.

2) Team 2 Powersports: Signed up as a 509 dealer with no intent of paying their invoices, owes $511.

Live & learn...

I have a lot dont even know where to start. So I wont slam them the one thing I think I learned from My turbo Apex if you want to run big power you had better learn to work on your own stuff.

I own a auto shop in Seattle and when we buy used parts mostly motors and transmission I allways stay within a Days drive of my house so if I have a real issue I will be on their door step.

The other thing to do is go with a good supplier Like Powderlites,Hartman,CR,Vanemburg,Timbersleds ext But Dave is on the Mark most of the time its the Guy with no ethics that kills so much for the rest of us I cant tell you how many damaged brand new cars that we see so people can get a freebie and ask your buds about their issues and go view their products. But I think most of the time it is the loose nut behind the wheel thats the issue and not the wheel.

I don't buy into the "We can't get the manufacture to warranty it".

I make my dealers warranty everything they sell me. When I buy the manufacture warranty means nothing to me. IMO the manufactures warranty protects the dealer, and the dealer protects me. I expect my dealer to get me fixed and on the snow ASAP. I expect parts to be overnighted and techs to work late. Whatever it takes. What happens between the dealer and the manufacture after I'm back on the snow is between them. That's why I don't buy direct from the manufacture.

I have never had a problem with this as long as I make sure the dealer understands before the deal is closed who I expect to warranty my purchase. Last time I had a problem with this and was told by the service writer that the manufacture was sending an inspector to look at something, I walk up to the GM's office and said remember that talk we had. The parts were here the next day and I was on the snow the day after that.
