Dead 800..Need Help

Got a 2010 800 rmk. Ran great for 3 days and yesterday while climbing the sled just flat out died. Now I have no spark, the headlight won't even light up when pulling the rope. The only thing that I noticed for symptoms before that is the brake light stayed one but that was after I rolled it to be unstuck and I thought a piece of snow was stuck in the handle. Any help is appreciated! It sure sucks sitting in the lodge while your buddies are out riding.

As to the headlights and MFD, they will not come on until the sled reaches at least 850 RPM and the chassis power relay is activated, below that, all power is reserved for the motor... you should not see the headlights glow while pulling the cord like on older sleds.

One thing you can try would be to disconnect the kill switch, throttle safety switch, ignition, and any other wiring up on the handle bars... the sled will run with all these safety devices disconnected, if it does then you have a short somewhere in the handlebar's wiring harness. If not, then you may have other/bigger problems.

My guess would be that you have either lost the voltage regulator and/or the ECU. :face-icon-small-sad

Good luck getting it back on the snow.

I would bank on the Voltage regulator as well. I have a 10' Assault that has now lost 2 VR's, and the last instance the capacitor went, which took out the VR. Tho the ECU has gotten hot with each VR i've lost, I have yet to fry one... but maybe i'm just luckyish.

The only difference with mine was that I could at least get it to fire and run for short bursts untill it would die again. Also... it kept running in shorter, and shorter bursts each time... untill eventually not running at all.
