Daydreaming in McCall 4/13

I must have been daydreaming on Saturday because I saw sledders climbing over Storm Pk, crazy bass turds.

Also, I saw a lovely vision gasing up at the Maverick with a rev, anyone know her 2349N?

I would say there was something in the air, but there wasn't even a cloud in the sky. See.

The weather on Saturday and Sunday was great. Snow wasn't too bad even with it getting so warm... I did get a major sunburn. You're right you could climb just about anything. The pic you posted looks like a familiar spot... where were you at when you took that pic?

Had one incident on Sunday... A friend that I won't name as of yet was going up a hill and when the skis came down they just cleared a small stick sticking out of the snow. The stick went threw the side belly pan of the IQ and then went threw just above the foot well coming out by the gas tank almost tearing off this person's leg. Took the tunnel, foot well, belly pan, metal loop that goes up and over to the other side of the sled. By the time the "stick" broke off it was 4-5 feet long. It was sticking just at the right angle and it did a lot of damage. Even with all the snow it was the top of a dead tree that fell just right. I'm sure there will be pics later.

that looks to me like the top of what i call victor peak.

If by Victor you mean the tallest peak in the area, then yes, that is where we were near. But that pic is to the south.

i get turned around up there, but from looking at the shadows, it sure looks like the pic was more towards the east, taking a pic of the other mountain straddling the top headwaters of victor creek.

If you drive true south, you fall into 20 mile lakes from where you were. which is not anything nicely close to 20 mile creek. there is that one little drop off in the middle which really kinda sucks.

I wear a teckvest 24x7, 366 days a year. It only weighs about 80 pounds, but it provides plenty of cushion for my abdomen!!!!!!!

Well, i'm starting to think maybe there is some bad mojo with the sled. I love(d) that sled.

Dadgum Tammy. Did you escape with nothing more than a rip in your bibs? How bad is the sled?

Not exactly - I am nursing a banged up left knee (thank heavens I put my kneepads back in my pants) it also put a big black hematoma on my upper thigh (right where the artery goes from torso to leg - yikes!) and a wack to the abdomen (no bruise but a lump under the skin). Tore those danged pants up bad too - dangit!

Sled is pretty bad - i'm sure insurance would total it. We are looking into parts and seeing how much it would cost us to fix it ourselves. IF we can fix the running board where the tube pulled away, we won't have to replace the tunnel. Put Better boards on it and should be good. Gotta replace the hoop, so that means a complete teardown. We'll see. Got all summer I guess. I would rather not turn it in if I don't have to - there are a lot worse wrecks that could happen! (i.e., Oberti and Phatty!)

The stick is more of a log in the pictures but from what she said it wasn't that big when it all started. I think a piece or two was broken off and this is what you see at the end of it all. She is darn lucky... wasn't more then an 1/8th of a mile off the trail.

She was luckier when she jumped onto the highway at Togwatee and there just happen to be no cars or trucks right that second! I about came out of my skin on that one. That log has a sharp end and could have been a ***ly mess. Get's you whoozy thinking about it. ARGH better buy a lottery ticket kido!

It ain't that sled's vodoo...its the BOX LAKE FACTOR! This gang of friends has wrecked more sleds in that 5 mile square then get done in at JACKSON!

FYI it looks like a total mess but it will buff out...a few hours in the shop and $600 in parts should do it. (Based on Alan's sled, the kitchen, the shop, the drag sled, vents, and the bathroom, they should have it ready to go for the 2012 season...ah better say 2013!)

Gosh Wade - that's the greatest offer i've had in a long time! We went to Anthony Lakes to the hillclimb last weekend. Not sure my knee is quite ready to tackle a sled. I still can't go up and down stairs alternating legs as my knee still hurts too bad.

I am hoping the snow lasts long enough for us to go a few more times. I still have my 800, just not quite as much fun as the 730 though.
