Dayco vs BRP belts??

Anybody tried a Dayco belt on their 800r???How to they compare to stock?? I was in Lordco last week and they stock all kinds of belts and they are about 50-60 bucks cheaper than stock ones.

tried a daycrap on my 07, belt is quite bit longer and narrower, correct belt but you have to adjust the secondary to bring it up in the sheaves.

just run a doo 166 or 377

Yeah, I used a dayco too and shortly into my ride i switched it with my spare belt that was a stock brp belt and the brp belt worked way better imo.

Dayco didn't hold up when it got deep. Worked fine at first and then I started losing RPM's. The cogs are not near as deep. I don't think it can cool down.

Like them on my 07 but cant get one for my 08. cheeper too. Lots of guys around here like them. Thinking of machining my secondary so i can run one. Width of the belt is the problem the last time i looked.

What are you talking about, I found one last year but I think it was the same dimensions as the 166. I found the Gates woked as well but cheaper and slightly shorter, as this is what the xp needed.

What is the Carlisle part number for the XP? I know the rev one is a xs803 but is there a new one for the xp that is the same size as the BRP one?

I have had good luck with XS belts on my turbo polaris. I am looking for belts for my buddies who ride Summits.

carlisle still says to use the xs803 on the xp.
Before i clutched, vented, and geared down my xp I was going through stock 166 belts every 30 miles. I put a xs803 on and it lasted 100 miles before it blew.
After I geared it down, vented, and clutched a 166 lasted 80-90 miles. then I put a 377 on for the last 300 or so miles of last year with no problems yet. 300 miles is way better then 30 miles, but still not great. I will see how much longer this 377 lasts.
I got a brand new xs803 from carlisle for free under their one year warranty. After the 377 that is on their now blows I will try the xs803 again to see how it does. I have another brand new 377 also.
Just wondering if I keep going through 377's if brp is going to continue warrantying them like the 166 last year. I went through six belts last year in 450 miles.

I run the carlisle ulitimax belts on my 1000 because, its REALLY hard to get those things not to eat belts every couple hundred miles, and with the cost of warrantying them, its not bad at all, still clutching to help it out, but at like $85 shipped my belts cost like $70 less then stock, so i dont mind trading em now and then.

On my 1000 after I got i clutched, I haven't had any belt problems. 1000 miles on my last one and I didn;t blow the belt it was just getting to worn in my opinion. Mine is an 05 and I put the team secondary on it andchanged some stuff in the primary. My sled is a 151. good luck with the clutching.

you had better do something diff with your clutches i have gotten 1700 miles on a belt on my 05 1000x have just over 1500 on just my second belt

floating secondary, and adding pin weight, motor was messed up and choked on the top so it wasnt able to pull the weight it should on top end.

I used the dayco equivelant of the 166 on my 07. I actually went the next size longer than the book said, same width. If I wanted to use it on my 08 xp I would have to machine my secondary. I think it is 1.5 mm. too narrow.Never blew any belt on my 07, ski-doo or dayco. Last ride of the year last spring, climbing with no shirts on, clutches got so hot that the center bushing in the primary, loosened the loctite and walked through the snap ring, but still didnt even string the BRP belt.

Carlisle belts are what most builders run on bigbores, turbo's, etc. They also have a 1 year warranty. With brp not warranting belts any longer, why would you not run them?

just because the same company makes the belts does not mean its the same quality. iam sure the brp and carlise belts have diffenrt compounds or sumthing. i agree it cant be that much diff to justify the cost varience other then brp putting there name on it and jacking the price.
