So the not so unstoppable force (me) hit the very immovable object (rock) Sunday and this was the result.

I'll post video when I get a chance. I just need to get a list of parts to fix

Trashed Front Spindle
Bent front Axle
Trashed Fork Clamps
Bent Hardware
Trashed Fork Clamp cross bar
Crimped Left fork tube
Bent Fork Tube Adapter

My legs hurt like hell! Total over the bars, rolled the bars in the mounts. It was like riding a chopper home! Threw me about 10-15' I have video!
Stopped the bike cold!

The best advice is don't ride in sugar too early in the season and avoid lumps in the snow!

that is what I was talking about 10" ski as the main one and some old 6" skis would probaly be a cheaper way to do this and keep the wheight down

Looking at it should be too bad.

Fork tube - 50$
Axle - 50$
Parts needed from TS
Fork Clamps - 85$
Ski Spindle - 226$ might be salvageable with some hammer work.

So all in all not bad.

I take that back... I was looking at the wrong part on the Mico... 340$ for the fork tube. Have to buy the axle clamp along with the tube.... :(

Ouch!!
This makes me wander a bit about the new spindle brace, mine is a 2013 kit without the spindle brace, I have a slight bend in the spindle at the back bolt of the fork clamp where the brace would be and zero damage to the fork leg. Of course with the impact you had, no way not to cause fork damage but with the new brace installed does more of the force of impact get transferred to the fork tube, causing the fork to have a better chance of being damaged instead of just the spindle?

I've thought about that. Im stuck between needing/wanting more strength and a fused break point..... What im worried could cause more damage is the bolts/clamps breaking and rotting the bottom of the ski into the motor or radiator.

You forgot to think about the cost of the forks rebuild well. I do them cheap. $50 per leg plus shipping.

Next time don't go hitting things that don't move!

Your lucky your able to type about it. Your wrists could look worse than your forks.

Your right a me being lucky. The crash actually ripped my gloves clean off my hands!

As for the rebuild i do them my self. Already have them broken down. On a Ktm it took all of 2 minutes.

Diesel, I don't know why KTM shows them with the axleclamp/lug assembly on the tubes. You should be able to buy just the tube. In fact the tubes I pm'ed you about might work with the OC axle lugs. I am doing a little research. You also might consider buying a complete set of forks. Used they are actually relatively cheap. Some CC from an SX would be a lot stiffer and probably work better with the increased leverage of the MTn horse. IMHO. Tuner that I work with told me that they have not found a stock fork that is stiff enough for snowbike use yet.

Did the same last year.

I drilled out the spindle brace to generate a weak point so it can fold if need be without taking out the forks . ( I Hope)

I ended up fixing and straightening the old spindle for a spare as well.
