Danny Woods/ Sheila Rowe Memorial ride

Hope you have a great turn out!

We are always gone for this... but camping out in the parking lot sure sounds fun! :)

How about a little info on this event for us newbies, where and what...I'm always up for ridding for charity or remembrance...Thanks

Four years ago we lost two sledders in an avalanche. Sheila Rowe and Danny Woods loved the snow and mountains. Each year, (this will be the third) a group of us who miss them and want to remember the good times we had while they were with us get together to ride, eat, BS ,and raise a few dollars in their memory. The location is the Canyon Creek SnoPark off the Mt.Baker Hwy.

The ride will start in the snow park off Canyon Creek rd. Canyon creek rd takes a left off the Mt.Baker Hwy about 2.5 to 3 miles past the town of Glacier. We are having a meeting on Monday night to make some of the plans, so I will post more after that.
The ride is for my Dad and Shiela, who were both killed in a avalanche up there three years ago. Both of them loved the sport and would be found on the mountain rain or shine. My Dad was guy who lived to sled. Always complained about more and more people ridding in the area but was always inviting new people to go ride. Not sure if he realized how many people he brought into the sport or who helped out on the Mt. He rode in this area for about 46years and any day you would run into him good chance he would have a big grin on his face. If you were about 150lbs he would be having you ride his sled just so his sled would get the high mark on the hill.

Oh yeah if your planning on camping bring alot of quarters! We are always playing games at night. Last year it was Chinaman. We also play left right center and what ever you might want to play.

You guys have fun on your trip. Trisha and I are going to have to ride with you guys soon. As the season goes on she is going to have to slow down. She is two months pregnant.

Where's the snowline? Is there room for RV's with trailers or is it roadside parking and campers? Sounds like a great time.

There is plenty of room for RV'S. The snow level is just a little lower than the main campground with forcast looking like we should get more snow at the lower elevations. I will be heading up this Sunday with the home on wheels. If it doesn't look like we are going to have good snow at the campground I am going to set up at the Y. Both lots have alot of room.

Sounds like we might have a timed race from one side of the lake to the top of the widow maker. Its up to the rider the course he wants to take. With all the new snow we are suppose to get next week this should be pretty good. Who is bringing what ? My bet is that a sled that came out of Sherwoods house of power wins. I have been hearing talk all summer now its time to see action.

The bbq will be held at the campground(To the left after the second bridge). Snow level is suppose to be between and 1000ft - 2000ft all next week so the campground should have good snow. See everyone there we are heading out.

Looks like this years snow will make up for last year. Just spoke with Steve at Mt.Baker Motorsports and they will be up there with some sleds if you are interested in a demo ride. If you already have the quickest sled come up and see how it stacks up against the rest. Stock vs stock, turbo vs turbo, mods vs mods should be a great time for all.

Just came off the mountain to pick up Garrett. There is about three inches of new snow at the campground and coming down. Roy is going to groom today and Friday night so we should have some smooth roads. All the pull offs on the way to the campground will be plowed for parking. Looks like we are going to have a good turn out there is already seven Rv's up there and four more that I know of coming. The snow at the lake is deep so the races should be alot of fun. See you there.

Happy New Year

Beautiful weather, excellent grooming, great snow, tasty food and awesome people.

Thank you to everyone who attended and all who helped put on the event.
