D8 Oil pump adjustment-without Pol wrenches

My oil pump is set to low at about 2.5 oz. of oil to 1 gallon of gas. or 50 to 1. Was going to do the quick fix and adjust my free play at the throttle body and upper cable. But I'm concerned that I might mess-up my TPS setting. So I was wondering if I can adjust the cable at the pump without the special wrenchs. Do I have remove air box and throttle body to get to the adjuster nuts on the cable? or is there another way?

Yes you do have to remove the throttle bodies and airbox. I found that also removing the secondary and the metal plates that the electronics hooks to was VERY helpful. As far as wrenches, you dont need the special Polaris just 2 10mm, I found cutting one of these to be about 2 inches long made it a lot easier. It is a complete pain in the a**, but I've done it twice now and only takes me about an hour and a half.

DAM! I was hoping someone had a top secret easy way to do it. I wonder what the wrenches cost.

I would adjust out the slack first if you have some. If you have slack you can tighten it out with the adjuster by the throttle lever, just tighten and wiggle the throttle level as you are doing it, stop right when it no longer has anymore wiggle. Do it this way and it will not affect your TPS. Just check it also when you turn the handle bars to make sure you are not pulling on the throttle bodies. You will only mess up your TPS if you tighten the cable until it starts to move the throttle body. I reduced the slack on mine and just a little slack has a big effect. Mine went 10:1 richer. IE (55:1 to 44:1) Now I am trying to decide if 44:1 is rich enough. Amsoil recommends 50:1 when running their oil.

Thanks I will adjust it a little and see if that brings it up. I think I will also put 1 oz. of oil per gallon in the tank until I'm sure that it is getting closer to the 3.4 oz. per gallon the my polaris shop recommended.
