d7 camo extreme?

I have a 07 d7 155, want to go to 163, it sounds like the best option is the 2.86 drive camo extreme. Does this set-up work good, plan on doing tracks usa rail extension. The other option is buy a used 5.1 series. thanks

Pm my buddy the_dougdanger on here. He has an 07d7 155 that he put a 163 camo extreme 163x2.5 under it last year. He also did a d&r at the same time. OMG!!! The sled is insane now! It is not exactly stock, but I ride a modded 03 escape 159, and we have a few 163 dragon 8's with various mod on them. Dougy used to have to really ride his a$$ of to try to mark us with his stock track. With the 163 extreme, we all just shut our sleds off and watched Doug put on a show for us. Yes, that big of a difference. The amazing part to me was just how well it performed in dry light fluffy powder. I expected it to be good in the setup or hard pack as stiff as they are, but in the Powder is where that track really shined. My sled will grow one over the summer after having ridden around one last season.

They came stock with a 2.4 so I can't see why you could not get a 2.5 in there without any issues. Like was said, you can go to a smaller driver as well. Definetely go to real extro's and get rid of that goofy center driver. Btw, Doug went from 155 to 163 with rail extentions and got away without any tunnel ext. We thought it would rub on a hard tail landing, but there has been no issues with that at all or sucking the flap in either.

If you are worried about clearance, you could get the holz front heat exchange block off kit. Only about 30 bucks and will get you some room for the track and shed a little weight.

I put a 156 extreme on my 08 700 with avid drivers and it fit fine, you shouldn't have any problems.

How well did you like the track compared to the stock 155"? I've never changed out a track before, how much is involved and am I going to need anything else to install it (tools, hardware)? I would really like to go to a stiffer lug and not suffer on the powder side, hope this is what I want to do.

If any of you are doing the extros and need a anti stab kit i have a brand new on for 65 shipped in the usa. Sorry

best bang for the buck

I installed the 2.5 x 163 camo extreme and it was quite an improvemnt over the 5.0 series. The avid 8 tooth will fit with about 3/16-1/4 space. Cut the rails add antistab and your good to go. If you haven't geared down do so know. The track is totaly clipped and has the center windows cut like the 5.0 and 5.1 series tracks. It is a single ply track so the weight gain is 5lbs I think...

A couple of points... IMO

The 2.5" extreme IS a great track in this sled. Huge improvement over the 2007 series 5.0 track.

The Polaris IQ-RMK's 2007+ use a 2.86" pitch driver. The 2006 and earlier use 2.52"

The Challenger extreme 2.5" is available in 144, 146, 150, 155, 156, 159, 162 and 163 Inch lengths.

The 155 and 163 are the only ones in the bunch that are 2.86" pitch. The others are 3" pitch tracks. Some on here run the stock 2.86" pitch drivers with the 3" pitch track ,,, but, IMO, I really would not recommend that. The driver has to constantly ride on the edges of the involute nubs or extro teeth.

The only drivers available in the 2.86" pitch for the polaris tubular driveshaft (2005 and up) are 8 tooth .... stock and Avid.

Clearance is an issue with the STOCK 2.4" track... too much parasitic drag.
Open it up and more power gets to the snow and the clutches dont have to work as hard to do it.

IMO, With a stock 700 engine (even with a pipe). No need to change to Combo drivers. The camo extreme 2.5" is now available in a 2.86" pitch and can be used with the factory drivers...Your 2007 does not have the center Extrovert driver... so no worries there..... IMO... on the 2008/09,remove the center extrovert driver as it can cause more problems than it is worth and adds to the weight of the driveshaft (the 2010's might not have the center driver from the factory) . On Higher hp/torq motors and turbo/nitrous installs.. the Combo drivers are a very good idea.

The Camo Extreme 155" is about 8 lbs heavier than the track you have now.

IT IS important however to run proper FACTORY recommended tension on the track.

I do Highly recommend a Drop and Roll with this track. Fastrax, Holz and Fabcraft make kits... they are all different so look into them before settling in on one.

D&R's bring the track closer to the top of the front-track shock/pivot-tube.. As you shrink the size of the driver diameter, you bring the track down closer to these parts..... so you have to watch out for tracks rubbing on the suspension.

The clearance issue on the RAW Chassis is not at the front of the tunnel opening where the heat exhanger is... it is at the roof of the tunnel. AND...YES removing the heat exhanger does improve the clearance and you will have more power to the track with more clearance.

i went from a 163 to a 174 exstreme on my 08 700 to say the least best mod you can do to the sled go for it the stock polaris track is horrible

IMO I would go with the Powerclaw on the 700. It is 9 lbs lighter than the camo extreme. The only prob is going to a 3.0 driver. I will have mine on here in a month or so, so I will let you know...
