Cutting the Windshield

Someone posted pictures up of his sled and I can't seem to find the thread. He had cut the windshield down on his Pro and it looked awesome. It was a little higher than the low profile one you can buy.
Anyone remember the thread?? And when you do cut these down what is the process to keep it looking clean?
Thanks!

I cut my windshield down with red handle tin snips. Peel off black trim and glue back over cut edge.

I peel off the trim, cut with some big tin snips and then super glue the trim back on.

Cut Windshield

Not sure if this is the one you are referring to but here is mine. Taped along the line on outsides where the flare comes up from the hood line. It is straight and about 2 inches long. From this point I taped straight from the end of the line where it merges back into upslope of windshield to a point I marked by eyeballing level off top plastic holding guage cluster and used a dremel tool. Tin snips or a similar tool like mentioned in the above posts sounds like a good idea too.

I just ran a piece of tape from one wing to the othe and cut off the top piece of stock windshield where my hand guards hit. I cut with a hacksaw blade. I then used some black automotive door edge guards from a roll to cover the lip again. Got that from O'Rielly's I believe. It's not to small and too tall. I would believe you could pretty much do what ever you wanted as long as it would still attach to the hood.

Nice job on both sleds! Old Scud-doo, would you mind sending a closer front on picture? I can't determine the best line to cut. I like how you incorporated the wings in the final cut.

Give me a day or so. I need to get back to my house and take a picture. Been pretty much living at the future wife's house :face-icon-small-ton

Won't hurt me to stop by and make sure the place didn't burn down at the very least.

plastic trim

Ok Guy's,

Thanks for planting the idea of cutting my sheild myself, at home...I am a complete butcher, and that combined with a severe shaky hand from drinking too much...well, lets just say it doesnt look NEARLY as professional as any of yours...

ALL IMPORTANT QUESTION...how do you either a) remove the old plastic trim (piping) and re apply it or b) where did you get new stuff? really want to get this sorted as soon as possible, as my beautiful new sled looks like I built it or something right now...

It just peels off, sometimes you might need a razor blade in spots if the glue is really tough. I have snips that are just like big scissors and takes 10 seconds to cut a ws.

Thanks Skibreeze...I will try that. Cannot buy the stuff up here in Canada...Lordco told me it was discontinued!

That border sure does impede our ability to do stuff

Three things I did! 1. Use a heat gun on low to heat up the trim/piping and then rock the trim back and forth, it will come off without any problem. Just be patient! 2. Make sure the windshield is WARM when you cut it. 3. Re-glue the trim back on with adhesive of choice. Crazy glue worked fine for me with no cleanup. Hope this helps
