Cutting down factory seat

Has anyone cut down the factory seat on these sleds? Been contemplating cutting mine down and using the original cover just pulling it down and re-stapling it. Would like to see pictures if some of you have!

Yes I have. I took 1'' off the top and about 1 1/2'' off the sides were it fans out. Its on the top of my best mods list next to 36'' front end. Pull the staples trace out the areas you want to take off. Get a helper to hold and stretch the seat cover. Re attach with a pneumatic staple gun.

What do you use to cut the foam?

Got an electric meat carving knife? They work awesome. Or you can heat up a a piece of thin wire and melt right through it. A good method for that is take the blade off a bow saw, tightly wrap a wire where the blade attaches and heat with a torch.

You can also use one of those extendable razor knifes that have like a 6" long blade. Much harder to make smooth cuts though. Eric

I used a electric carving knife, and then used my belt sander to shape and uniform everything.

worked great, only took about 45min to take 2" off the top, 1.25" off each side, and 4" off the back.

Any of you guys have any more pictures? Would like to see what they look like with different amounts of foam off on each.
