Cutting down an A20 for reverse DD

Can anyone give me some advice for cutting down the clips on an Attack 20 track to install on an M sled with the mechanical reverse? I know there has been threads in the past, but can't find them. I am thinking I will just use a 4" grinder and cut them off on the gear side and leave the other side alone. Is there anything I need to worry about?

I have done it... I cut the rubber nubs with a pair of wire cutters.
I cut the 90 degree part of the metal clip with a die grinder.
Only thing I did wrong was I did not radius/deburr the clips where I cut off, so it wore a groove in the side of my hifax... No biggie.
Use the die grinder outside if possible and wear a mask.
You will thank me later.

I have done it twice now. I just used a sawz-all. Remember you only have to do the one side. Learned that the hard way the first time around. I'd have to go look but I'm pretty sure it's the left side as you are sitting on the sled. Hope this helps.

For balance on the track I highly recommend doing both sides. You only have to do every other drive lug. I like to use a cut-off wheel for the metal clips and for the rubber portion just go to your local ACE hardware and get the biggest flat wood chisel they have, usually about 2 inches wide and it will have the blade surface on all 3 sides. Line that baby up and pop it with a mallet and you get and nice clean cut of the rubber and it is FAST.

Racinstation, are you cutting the whole lug off or just shortening them so they don't rub on the DD housing? I just shortened mine, was that wrong?

I take the whole lug off flush with the top or inside edge of the track. By not taking the whole lug off you will be fine. It may vibrate a bit.

must be missing something here, why do you need to cut off some of the lugs/clips on an A-20 for an M series? The M8 I just got came with one......

TTT

So is the problem that the small rubber lugs on the inside of the track and the edge of the metal clips hit the DD if you have the mechanical reverse? I looked at my 07' w/ mechanical reverse that came with the A-20 and clearances look close but i couldn't actully see anywhere it was hitting...
