i saw a post a few weeks ago about it and cant find it anywhere! so i have a AEM air/fuel and want to shorten the wires can this be done without screwing up the gauage?? thanks SP

We never got a legit answer on that one. I would email AEM and find out for sure. Don't forget to post their response. :)

I shortened the power wires with no issues.

I cant think of any reason shortening the signal wires would be any different. It's just an electrical signal, and the wires are only that long so it can be mounted in a car and reach the exhaust.

Correct, just make sure to do a good job of soldering any connections and make sure everything is clean... don't want some misc voltage drops occurring.....

I assume this is a wide band?

well thanks guys i just went for it and cut them!! ill let you know tommo when i start it if it worked.. SP

I went down this road, and now have a new sensor wire on order. I spoke to someone who had spoken to AEM and they strongly recommended not to mess with the length. I did a supper clean job soldered and heat shrink tubed the whole works? Let us know Stray.

I shortened the wires on my wideband O/2 sensor on my race car with no probs. They are just wires, they prob don't want you messing with them because of fear they will get crossed or something.

If you are soldering these wires or using a connector of sorts or shortening it I wonder if it messes with the resistance and throws something off?
Just thinking out loud here, the widebands seem to be a pretty sensitive unit.
Gotta wonder why AEM doesn't recommend it.

well took my sled out last night and all was good with the air/fuel.. time will tell if it works.. i cut it down to about 2ft sensor to gauage. SP
