Cutting a track narrower for a Phazer?

I'm sure there are a few guys done this. We want to cut a 153 narrower to fit in the Phazer. I think we can get away with about 14-1/2 wide. What is the easiest/safest way to cut the track down. A wet utility knife is looking a little tedious as we need to take about 1/4 off each side = 306 inches of cutting:eek:

Try an air dremal with a thin wheel for cutting steel. Have used them to cut up tracks before. Still time consuming but a little easier on the fingures.

That video is exactly what I suggested to my son that we could try, inside out on a table saw. I just wasn't 100% sure that we could flip it inside out, I guess we can, LOL. The 4X4 to hold is straight is a good idea. Thanks. Unless something better comes long I think we will do that:beer;

I just used a Dremel and small wheel to cut a leaking drain out of my shower tonight. I don't think it would survive 300" of cutting rubber:(

Turn the track inside out and use a circular saw, with your buddy squirting WD 40 or dish soap as you go.

We haven't actually measured it yet, maybe it can only be 14.25. We run 16's on the Nytros and want to get as much width as we can under the Nytro. We just happen to have a 153 and a set of drivers

Seen it done a few times when the fire cats first came out. The guy that did it used a skill saw with a piece of metal welded to the guard for a guide. The funniest thing was watching a couple guys try to flip a 162 track inside out.

Good luck...

Cut ours on a table saw...14.5 wide, rubs every now and then but works way better than the stock track. Dino

Cutting a track narrower for a Phazer

Took a 16" wide track from a summit and used a skil saw with an attached guide on it. Cut 1" off of each side. I suspended it on a piece of pipe which was suspended between the ceiling rails of the garage door. I got the idea from someone on here that suspended a track similar to this between a couple of ladders. The ladders seemed a bit rickety. The guide on the skil saw helped quite a bit. It did take a couple of saw blades, though. I laid a piece of plywood on a couple of saw horses to make a work platform and then crawled inside the track and started the cutting. I will try to attach a few pics. I have it on the 2007 Phazer and relocated the suspension. So far, it seems to float a lot better.
