Cutler or Twisted

Well i am asking this same question right now....i have looked at most kits made for the m-10 and they all seem pretty good, but i have been talking with Dale from cutlers and he seems to really know his stuff He says his kits are working well, and the fit and finish seems to be second to none.....so somebody please tell me ....which kit do i buy?

Youve already been told brother.
Dale is good, but Im suprised he isnt charging for a conversation with him. Go with Twisted while the customer service is still good. Dale will never remember your name

I just got off the phone with kelsey from rkt and he said his porting package with all the goodies is worth 220-225 and should easily keep up with the m8 pump gas kits. Thats shure alot cheaper then $6000 for a turbo and it would save me the hassle of selling all the parts i already bought (pipe can y pipe, head reeds box vents ect ect) has any one run a fully done m1000 against a pump m8 or a pump nitro, if it could hang with or beat these sleds thats all im really looking for.

Thanks

I would have to see it to believe it. I was running a well built ported m8 bigbore that would put a hurting on a stock m1000 and a turbo m7 would kick my azz (but he was race fuel). Won't say it wouldn't but would like to see it first. Plus remember if you are going to run a ported kit you will have to use some race fuel.

i agree !! my TM7 wiped up everything in its trax minus maybe an Tapex ! a1500 psi's had issues runnin next to me ! granted i was runnin 14+psi LOL:p
mike:D

Whats a pump gas m8 turbo put out for hp. I was talking to a some guys we hooked up with in revy this last weekend that were runing cutler pump gas kits ( I think) and they said 185. 225 HP even at 6000 ft is still more then 185

Go with Shain,he is always a phone call away or less, his service is second to none, hands down. Thanks Shain for all you've done for me.Also he does tons of R&D so he knows what works.Twisted Turbo all the way......!!!

Whatever, he gets suckers like me to do the R&D. Its a tough job, but someone has to do it!! :D

I have a 08 m1k with fully ported motor with case porting and clipped head all work and magic done by Brent Linderman @ Arctic Edgeand have close to an extra 5000.00 into her and have raced pump gas Twisted Turbo M8 running 5Lbs boost.I get him off the holeshot but when his turbo spools up he catches up quickly.I am not saying that I can beat him or he can beat me because we always run out of ground to race on and I have the tree marks on my sled because I wasn't letting go of that throttle till we were totally out of room.Gotta say that for the first time out on that Twisted Turbo he had no tuning or issues ran perfect right out of the box.Over the summer I am going to get Brent To install Twisted Turbo on my sled.In my opinion Shains turbo is the best, most reliable on the market that has many hours out there proving his product.I guess thats how he got the name Product Tester.

Cheers,
Dave

Well i think iv made up my mind. I cant bring my self to drop another 6000 into my sled so im going to go with the porting. I recently talked to kelesy and brent linderman and they both seem to think it should be close to a pump M8. Brent said all the M1000 turbos hes done still have a small amount of lag and for tight tree riding i might be happier with pipe and porting. I just have to decided if I'll get brent or kelesy to do the machine work. If Im still not happy ill get the turbo next year. Thanks everyone for all the info.

You have already made up your mind so that is fine but remember that you can run into problems trying to put a turbo on a sled that has been ported. Stock m8 porting is perfect and the m1000 has to be reported to stock m8 specs.

Oh, and there is NO lag in the twisted turbo.

Enjoy your new ride

I agree 100% on the no lag with Shains set up but have talked to Brent about Putting a Twisted Turbo on my fully ported motor and he says no problem that it will work better when he finishs it.Air pump that pumps more air makes more power. I know of an other Arctic Cat guru Named Dennis Zacharuk that has an extensivly ported M1k that runs perfect.

Cheers,
Dave

Twisted will out perform the others. The twisted turbo kit eliminates the oil injection which allows for a much shorter charge tube which creates faster spool up ( or less lag) and better performance.

They are out of South Weber Utah and service is above and beyond.

You can purchase the kit or have Shain install it, your choice.

Where are you in Idaho?

I like shain but please explain why this makes the charge tube shorter? Also the CPC uses a cold air intake that works amazingly. also stock exit on exhaust, wont make your ears bleed. Just something to think about. I went up today on the CPC M8T in deep super light powder and she never bogged once. Never got stuck once and she ripped right over every hill. Just awesome. Both good kits, two best choices out there IMO.

Freak,

The position of the turbo in the cutler kit with it exiting the exhaust forward means that you have to route your charge tube to the back (footwell) side of the turbo AND around the oil reservoir. To do this is going to require about 10-12 more inches on the charge tube. This will take away from performance. The cold air intake works good but does it work any better than the others that vent from the a-arm well. I don't think so.

I will give you, when it spools up it is kind of loud. But with the muffler Shain has designed for it, you wouldn't know it wasn't stock until WOT.

Your right though - both good kits. Would be hard pressed to find a bad one for the m7 m8 these days with all they know now.

Let me us talk about this charge tube….the charge tube volume in-between the exit of the turbo charger and intake of the engine is the only thing that needs to be reviewed. So a ½” tube that is 2 foot long will take the same amount of time to equalize X amount of PSI as a 1” tube that is 1 foot long.

Q: why not make a 1” tube twice the distance, and run some of this 1” tube somewhere it can get some cooling…….hummm I got an idea:cool:

The ONLY thing that a longer charge tube will do to performance is add lag. I heard a number of about .2 sec per foot of charge tube. Prob is that that is a generic figure and doesnt account for tube diameter. An intercooler will add more lag then a little extra tubing for sure. There is NO top end hp gain from a shorter charge tube. Now, come ride my Cutler m8 and see if there is any significant lag. I also guarandamtee you WILL lose hp if you are sucking your air from under the hood simply "near" a shock tower vent ON THE DEEP POW DAYS. So although I agree with your claim that the shorter tube does in fact have its advantages, I would still say that I would rather have the added .1 sec lag (if there even is any) and keep my cold air anyday.

IMHO if you want the fastest drag sled or maybe even the highest climbing chute sled then the Shane kit might have the edge, BUT for boondocking I would give the edge to the CPC.

Remember these are just our opinions and they were in fact asked for.

Here is a pic of my CPC charge tube.

Ummm not quite but almost... the volume of the charge tube is proportional to the square of the radius of the tube, so if you double the tube radius, you can 1/4 the length of the tube to get the same volume.
