custom 98 ovation project

i starting to mod my sled and i want to put a 480 motor and track and rear suspension from a 98 yamaha phazer 2 into a 98 yamha ovation 340 there both the same year the pazers no good anymore after my dad crashed it the motor and tack and suspension are all still good. any input would be aprecciated im only 16 so this is a pretty big task for me

Well, I bought a new Ovation for my wife in 1989 and long tracked it to 121" x 1" track from the stock 107". I put an Aaen pipe on the sled and turned the air intake snorkel around facing up and back toward the rider and put in the largest main jets yamaha sold and it worked awesome. I put a custom paint job on it and it looks cool too.

This past weekend I bought two 89 Ovations for my kids and plan to do another Ovation mod sled. This time with either a 121 x 1.5" track or if I dare a 136 x 1.5".

Good luck and send me a PM with any questions you may have. maybe I'll send youa picture to get you thinking?

If you have of know of any Ovation parts please let me know. One of mine is pretty rough.

Frosty

thanks that give me a whole lot more confedence i plan to extend the track from 109'' to 136'' im pretty sure ill have too do a tunnel extension. and ect. post some pices of your ovation line up i would love to see them this is my first sled. and i think i'm being pretty ambitous

ok i got the suspension out now how do i take off the track. do i neeed to disasemble the chain case and pull the jackshaft out that holds the sprockets.if that the case then i think ill be in pretty good shape ill post pics as soon as i can find the digital camera.:light:

I am doing the same thing to an ovation but with a little different twist. I put a 600 MM engine in mine and a phazer suspension longtracked to a 144" track. You can use the phazer longtrack extensions for your tunnel. I found some used bender twin pipes to put on it. It should wiegh about 415 lbs when finished and have around 130 Hp I think. It should be an awesome boondocker and powder sled. Good luck with yours.

that sounds *****in good luck with it im haveing problems getting the suspension to bolt in with the track. the gears are different splines so i have to change.

Does anybody have any pics of these ovation mod sleds? Sounds like they would be extremely fun to ride and build!
