Crossing the Border

Hopefully heading into the States from Canada to go sledding in Wyoming. Anything we should be prepared for at the border when we cross loaded up with trailers and sleds?

Valid insurance/registration for all the sleds, trailer and truck, valid ID or passports if you have em. It's not really a big deal.

Sounds pretty painless, thanks. My sled is from the states so I should probably get that RIV sticker put on one of these days too.

I know crossing the border on the southern side of the country you just have to be a fairly good swimmer or runner and have good night vision. Coming from your area, I think you can just drive straight on through without stopping as long as you have Canadian plates. If you have plates from the states, better block some time off your travels.

Mods

If you have any major mods done to your sled, try to keep the receipts with you, and if the mods came from the US you may even want to show you paid GST when you brought the mods across the line.
A buddy bought a turbo kit in the US brought it across the line and paid all taxes. Once we had it all installed we went down to ride with the guys that built the turbo kit. On our way back we got held up at the boarder for 2.5 hrs and got searched because they though he was bringing the turbo kit across the line without declaring it.
Any prof of purchase you can provide at the boarder will help if you get searched....on the other hand some days we have driven right through, no problems.

Went through the crossing south of Weyburn once and they took all our beef jerky and pepperoni sticks away. Other than that just make sure you have your sled registrations with you.

Border crossing

Maybe "game" wasn't the right term, but it sure seems like it when you get asked the same question 3 times within the span of a minute.

Game is the right terminalogy. No reason to reiterate. That's there job and as soon as people understand that it's no posey for crossing the border.Play it normal and have no reason for them to suspect.
