Cross Boarder shipping ?

I'm trying to sell a Boss Seat.
Got a guy interested out in NY State. Boxed up my seat and went to the Post Office. Got quoted $480 to send from Alberta, Canada to NY, USA.

What the H*** is up with that?? The thing weighs under 10lbs box and all. Have anyothers shipped a seat across the boarder if so what company did you use or how did you get it across cost effectivly??

Thanks, Culvert

Although the package is light the overal size of the package make a difference. I would get some online quotes from fed ex, ups, dhl,... You need to know the dimensions, weight, value, and the where it is going.

i find that you will always get insane quotes on the internet, best bet is to take the box to the post office and ship it. ive gotten quoted for over $200 before on the net then shipped it for $40 when i got to the post office.

I have found that ups is the cheapest way to ship big stuff to canada. I am not sure if it will be the same comeing the other way. Fedex usually quotes me cheaper but it is a pain to cross borders with fedex, they want you to assign your own broker to get it across the border. I have shipped tracks that are normally around 55 pounds with packaging to canada for around $50 using ups. I have never used DHL but it might be worth a look. Anyway, I do know that the post office is NOT the way to ship BIG items.
