crooked creek, lineshack, sawmill help!

flatlanders thinking of trying new area. we did togwotee lodge last year and had a blast but looking to cut some cost. 9 of us thinking of renting house in this area january 1st. we all have experience and long tracks. looking to play in powder with as little trail riding as possible. is this a good area for this? is guide needed to find good powder? thx for any help

All good places to stay, but you have a heck of a trail ride to get to the good stuff, in my humble opinion. Where ever you stay you'll have fun on the CD.

We stayed at the Lineshack a couple of times. We rented the bunkhouse...sleeps up to 9 guys. (CHEAP) The riding is decent right from the lodge but it really depends on the snow conditions. The first year we were there the snow was deep and we didn't have to go far from the lodge to get stuck. Not much to climb close by, alot of good boondocking. We did find good stuff to climb but had to travel further away.

The lodging in that area is on Union Pass, more trail riding, some meadows. Not going to have the challenges that you encountered last year in the Togwatee Pass area. Like someone already stated, you'll have to travel a little ways to get to the good stuff-approx. 25-40 miles.

try lava mountain lodge they have a house you can rent! we rented the house from jan 9th to the 16th this year! its suspose to be in the middle of lineshack and togwotee we have stayed at lineshack in the bunk house a couple of times and it was the same money as the lava!

WeatView, Union Pass Wyoming

My group of "Slendnecks" have stayed at and would highly recommend checking out WestView, it's a beautiful hand hewed, full log structure with a separate bunk house on the same property. This place is Awesome!!! check out

We'll be there in February, looking forward to it. Sounds like a nice place. Does anyone know if it has Wireless Internet? Gotta keep in touch with the family y'know.

just returned from line shack & had a great tie. the staff was very friendly & entertaining. we rode maybe 10 iles from the lodge on cd trail & dropped off to the left & rode nothing but untouched powder for 3 days. a few logs to go over once in a while, but incredible boondocking. with the avy danger where it is, I would highly recommend this area. if the avy danger lowers, than go higher like mentioned already. hope this helps.. also I posted a few pics on the cd trail conditions area.

Well i live up here at Crooked Creek. Road today about 5 miles down CD TRAIL towards Togwotee and found great snow. Had about a foot of fresh snow over early this week. We found some areas with over 18++ fresh inches about 5 miles from the lodge. Good time. Its here... Thanks.
