CRF450R 17/18 or YZ450F 18 or 450 SX-F 17/18?

I don't have much experience with bikes but when I can confirm that a kick start is an option on the YZ450 that's what I will be buying.

I pulled the trigger on a '17 CRF450RX to use as my snowbike this coming winter. It has the kick and electric start, close ratio trans, 2.2 gallon tank, etc. I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them that you listed, as long as you can add a kick starter to the YZ. Just looking at the pictures on the Yamaha website, it doesn't appear to have any kick start option....no spot to put it like you see on the '18 CRF's.

I have a 14 KTM 450 SXF. No kickstarter. I put a high capacity battery in it and I carry a jumpstart pack that I never used last year. Bike started fine even in below zero weather a few times. Not having a kickstarter bothered me at first but I wouldn't let it be why I did or did not get the brand that I wanted. I think that all three of the bikes mentioned would be great choices. The ktm is lighter and has more power. Have fun.

Flipping through a dirtbike magazine at the grocery store I just read that the 2018 CRF and CRF rx do not have a kick starter anymore. Not sure about the options to add one.

Just re-read Butta's post and it sounds like they might have an option?

It's a honda after all.
The name of reliability.
You shouldn't need it........

But.
You can add the kicker.
It's just capped off in the 2018 photos.

When I first started snowbiking 4 years ago my first bike was a ktm without a kickstart. It really worried me to not have the kickstart back up. After 4 seasons and many different ktm/huskys later I'm happy to say I've never needed a kick start and wouldn't worry about not having one on my bike. Definitely wouldn't let the lack of kickstart deter me from buying the bike I wanted.

I agree with MadMax. If your worried carry a jump pack and an extension to plug onto another bike. If you run accessories just don't run them off the battery. You will be good to go

As long as you're not in a creek bottom you can bump start. Hard to leave 30+ pounds on the table.

The 2018 450 RX is 15 lbs hevier than the KTM SX 450. 15 lbs is huge on the snow , Jus sayin.

According to Dirtrider it's 261# Honda inc. fuel vs. 239# KTM/Husky full. That's kind of a big deal. Remember when we used to buy Ti bolt kits to lose 8 oz? Yamaha is 262#.

15 lbs? I could take a crap and drop almost 15 lbs. I'm not worried about 15 lbs. If I were, I would go on a diet and lose more than that...which is what I really should do, but a sedentary job makes it difficult. I'm happy to have my RX, those of you who choose otherwise, I hope that makes you happy.....Jus sayin.
