So I recently sold my 04 crf450 to upgrade to a newer bike. After riding my buddys kx 250f I fell in love with it on the track. Only concern i have is for some woods riding how well does the 250f's do compared to the 450's ?

You'll be on the gas allot more on the longer jumps with a shorter takeoff. I'd say get it if your into racing, and want to be in the 250 class. If not, the 450 is better for dunes, and easier on the track. You don't have to be WOT everywhere. JMO!
after riding the 250f on the track just made me realize how lazy I got with my 450. Just lugging around the track. It felt good on the 250f having to work for the speed in the corners and around the track.
I would never sell my 450 for a 250. My buddy rides vet pro, he had a yz 450 f. He baught a kxf 250. All he talked about was how much he missed his 450. He was on a kxf 450 in no time. I went from a 02 yz 250 f to a 04 crf 450. I'm now on a 09 crf 450. IMO the 250's are just plain under powered.
If that's what you like, why the hell aren't you on a 1 2 and 5?
the 250 will be better then the 450 in the woods, easier to ride and lighter.
just went with a 250 kxf got a killler deal from the dealer. cant wait for this season for motox. the 450 was nice but this 250f is just crazy. cant wait. me and a buddy went in on a package deal from the dealer. couldnt pass up the offer. cant say i wont own a 450 again but this 250 is just too sweet on the track. i will get a 450 if i ever super moto one... prolly next year!!!!

I disagree. It also depends on how big of a guy you are. I am 240 and we have both yami 250 and 450f's. The 250 is a bear for me to ride compared to the 450. Just does not have the bottom end of the 450 and have to ride the thing like a 2 stroke. With my size, the weight is not an issue as much as the lack of motor on the little bike. I'd rather ride a 250 stroke than the 250 4 stroke. Now my boy at 130lbs soaking wet can rip on either bike and does feel the weight of the 450. It tires him out alot more than the 250f, but he still turns much faster lap times on the 450. Part of the arms getting sore is from the pull of the 450 as well, not just the weight. It pulls waaaay harder than the little bikes.
I also like the 250F for the wood, around here the woods are tighter.
I hope to see a 350F the same weight as a 250f.. i will have one as soon as it hit the dealer.
