This one was taken from the north end (top) of railroad at the pass, looking onto one of the main routes up to the peak.

Notice the people out on the glacier to get a sense of scale.

Do you wait until march or january good enough?

last spring on a ski descent from baker a friend almost skied directly into this crevasse on the upper left of skier in photo.. it was not visible until you got RIGHT to it. He stopped just a few feet before it. We knew to avoid it just because we saw it on the way up. It looked bottomless

don't forget about avy's.. this would have been impressive to see

Early season, it's not the snowbridge so much as just getting all the big rocks covered enough to get up to the play areas...

Technically, the FS opens the area when there is at least 2' in the meadow

Usually January for the glacier (crevasse snowbridges). I dabbled a bit last year mid-Dec and my balls started tingling. Last ride to the crater for me was May 9th (early) last year.
