Don't kid yourself, we are / were all idiots from time to time. That is how we learn / learned.
In todays culture of proper PPE for everything. They are really no safer than we were without it. The difference being we thought about and knew the risk. Now the culture is; wear this and you will be safe. BULLSH!T
If you don't have the proper attitude and thought process going in, no PPE is going to save your stupid AZZ!

Reminds me of free soloist climbers. Crazy, crazy stuff. "there are old climbers and there are bold climbers, but no old and bold climbers"
^^^^^ yup heard that saying forever. I do not free climb as I am such a bi*ch when it come to heights and need a rope. However, I have a bunch of friends that have freed in Yosemite Valley and elswhere. Gotta admit, I would not be an old free solo climber.
