Well went riding yesterday made it 5 km from the truck and my sled came to a seizing halt. I though maybe it was a lean burn down pulled the plugs and they looked good. Fired it up and it made a hell of a knocking sound I knew then it was the crank. Towed it back to the pickup and torn it down while the others went for a ride. The piston and cylinders look good but the rod bearing on the mag side is totally shot. I can move the rod up and down about half inch other rod is good. Lucky the the rod didn't smash threw the block like what happen to some. I was thinking maybe it was a oil issue but there there was a puddle of oil on the bottom of the crankcase. I read a couple posts sounds like this is a common thing. Are ski-doo cranks just pos? There must be a reason for the failure? Sled is a 2003 summit zx 800 with a crankshop signal pipe.
