crank shaft half's

I need some input. I can[t seem to break the seal on the crank half's. I have been hitting it with a dead blow hammer without any luck.

Any pointers will help.

I assume you've removed the stator & water pump cover. Are you sure you removed all the bolts? There are 2 small allen head bolts above the water pump that have to come out.

case

Yup, every bolt was removed. I finally was able to get the case opened far enough to slide a razor blade down one side of the case. A few more hammer blows and I got it.

Just as I predicted, no grease in the MAG side bearing due to a bad MAG seal. Both inside crank bearings are shot and the outer PTO bearing is binding. Both MAG side bearings look fine and aren't binding. The case has some marks on it that resemble smudged lead from a pencil. The bearings have matching marks. I hope the case is o.k. It never ceased up, I was shocked as there wasn't a trace of grease on that bearing.

Tomorrow the whole mess is being sent to John at Northern Crankshaft.
