Crank Run Out????

I have 5200 miles and its running strong as ever. I am hoping to put another 5000 on it before I scrap it. I am just going to do a run out test yearly and as soon as she gets to .004" then I will have the crank redone. Thanks for the help!!

Which time?? I got 2900 miles out of it the first time and 2700 miles out of it the second time. Mountain riders/boondockers tend to lose the cranks more often than the trail riders do.

Not to be an ***, but 0.0004 is four ten thousandths of an inch. Good instruments can measure that, they would be expensive though.
0.0 is tenths place
0.00 is hundreths
0.000 is thousandths
0.0000 is ten thousandths
0.00000 is hundred thousandths
0.000000 is millionths.

Oh, yeah. I think my abacus is broke.

.01, .001,. .0001, .00001 ??

He probably means .004". .0004" is four millionths of an inch - pretty tough to measure.

.0004 is actually four ten thousandths of an inch, or slightly less than half a thousandth

Look guys, he knows what he's talking about, I was just messin' with him (note the "lol" on line 2)
